Instruction to Authors

  • Submission.

Manuscripts should be sent by e-mail to the editorial office in Budapest cca@cs.elte.hu in PostScript, PDF, , or format. Short notes are welcome, we process them separately.
In order to facilitate refereeing, copies of those papers (whether by the author or someone else), which are essentially referred to and are not conveniently accessible, should be sent by ordinary mail (or e-mail) to the editorial office in Budapest. Authors should retain a copy of everything submitted, since submitted material will usually not be returned along with the referees' reports and the galley proofs.
  • Final version.

If the paper is accepted, the final version should be submitted in , or format, with a separate file for each figure in Encapsulated Postcript (eps) format. It is best to avoid complicated macros; our typesetter will convert the files to produce the format of the journal, and this is easiest and safest to do from a ``vanilla'' version.
  • Form of Manuscript.

    • As a general rule, the length of the paper should not exceed 25 pages (in the standard Latex format). Longer papers are only accepted if their content warrants exception; refereeing of long papers may take more time.
    • In a paper divided into sections, it is desirable to number theorems, lemmas, definitions, corollaries, examples, etc. consecutively using double Arabic numerals. (E.g., Section 3 may start with Definition 3.1 followed by Remark 3.2 and Theorem 3.3).
    • Mark the end of proof by . The same symbol, placed at the end of a statement, indicates the absence of proof.
  • Cover letter.

In the e-mail with the submission, please include the following:
    • title of the article,
    • name(s), affiliation(s), and e-mail address(es) of the author(s),
    • name and mailing address of the author responsible for correspondence with ,
    • an abbreviated form of the title (at most 35 characters), to be used as the running head,
    • Mathematics Subject Classification codes (primary and secondary). The classifications are listed in the annual Index of the Mathematical Reviews and on the web site of the American Mathematical Society.
  • Abstract.

The manuscript should be accompanied by a brief abstract. Bear in mind that this might be the only part of the paper read by most of the readers.
  • Style.

Clarity of the presentation is paramount. The results should be made accessible to the nonspecialist reader. Authors should give clear motivation, background, exact references, and all definitions which are not generally known.
  • Reprints.

50 reprints are provided free of charge. Additional reprints may be ordered.
